Where it began
Our founder, Robert “Bud” Hancock, was raised by world-class, generous, philanthropist parents. He himself served in the Reagan Administration where he expanded his worldview, gained solid connections and a honed vision of how to engage to defeat poverty. He brought that knowledge to Shasta County and began to work.
Once upon a time….
Our story begins as an Adventure, and that’s how it continues to this day. Bud discovered many likeminded folks with heart and work ethic. Through the years, various people on the same journey linked up to create, innovate and collaborate on such things as transitional housing, food security, water conservation, poverty alleviation and parolee transition. In numerous ways and at just the right time, Providence has been able to adventure toward solutions that led to improving lives and creating livelihoods.
Making something out of nothing.
When the City of Redding found themselves with a property they thought would be a Sports Facility and a neighborhood coalition wanting it to remain farmland, Providence stepped in with a solution. Riverland Farm was birthed. We are partnering with our City to create an agritourism farm which can serve as a training ground, an outlet of nutrition and education, a place of harmony and synergy for the community and much more. As we begin to develop the next phases, we anticipate a profitability which will allow us to hire more laborers, train more people, share more resources via micro-loans creating jobs in the poorest nations and more.
Purposing
If we start with the end in mind, it gives light to the journey. Our purposing to uplift and free people into all they were made to be is foremost. Syncing up our talents and vision to get us there is key. We can make a huge difference, we are making a difference, we are purpose driven.
Partnering
You’ve heard that teamwork makes the dream work. Well, we are leveraging and co-laboring with all our might to bring about positive, healthy change that reverberates outward. We’ve seen firsthand how connections, skills and abilities can merge and make something that was previously impossible come to life. We live with that sense of adventure, believing our joint efforts will far outpace our individual ones.
Prospering
If we can help one another prosper, and that prosperity touches our immediate vicinity, we can enhance a community. If our community is willing to look upward and outward, there are endless ways our local momentum can impact the globe. This is why we want to prosper - to share wholeness and health with all peoples starting with those most in need.
